The Disappointment That Is Capcom, Part 1

After a long absence, this DragonKnight has returned to a place he likes to think of as a second home on the Internet. After some problems, and some severe computer boredom, I have returned to SSMD to help out my good friend HolmesIV and also because this place is a far better site than most I frequent. Hopefully it will rub off on me.
I had planned on making a controversial story about how Microsoft bought Halo 3's review scores, but after only having two sources to use, and neither of them being definitive, I have decided to post a story about Capcom. I call it, The Disappointment that is Capcom, Part 1.
I'm sure by now you've heard about Capcom's countdown to some big announcement happening tomorrow, which was first spoken of after a PS3 fan quite correctly pointed out that Capcom is screwing the PS3 over like they're in prison and the PS3 is their b****. Some Capcom executive said "Let's see how you like us after Wednesday" (paraphrased), and then we got the countdown page where some image of what looks like Earth is in the background and a timer counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds to their allegedly big announcement.
Between that time and today, Capcom made one lame announcement that they are remaking Bionic Commando, and it's multi-platform (big surprise). They have since stated that Wednedsay and either Thursday or Friday will see more annoucements. Wednesday is the day the counter ends, and there is some Press Embargo in place that ends at the end of this week for the other announcement.
Now, I don't know about you, but I find myself apathetic towards Capcom and any announcement they could make. For one thing, they have never addressed the issue that they have made exclusive games for both the Wii and the 360 and not the PS3, which is what that fan was talking about, and so now they come forth and attempt to give PS3 fans hope.
Well forgive me for saying "I'll believe it when I see it". Why do I say that? Barring the obvious Past issues, Monster Hunter 3 is the reason I say that.
MH3 was scheduled to be a PS3 exclusive. Many were hoping for it and waiting for it, and PS3 fans were excited to have this game. So what does Capcom do? They jump ship due to their greed. Just another classic move made by Capcom.
If they aren't making horrendous and repetitive Megaman games or Street Fighter remakes/spinoffs, and if they're not getting rid of their real talent and closing down the studios that make the unique games that we love such as Viewtiful Joe or Okami, then you can bet that they're being greedy bastards and giving the PS3 the shaft in the process.
I expect that their over-hyped announcement will be underwhelming, and that the game will not remain a PS3 exclusive, that's even IF it's a PS3 exclusive at all. I expect Capcom to disappoint, again, and sincerely hope that PS3 fans give them what they deserve, the cold shoulder. If Capcom insists upon ignoring one of the 3 fan-bases they could exploit, then we should ignore them and their pathetic games.
Many have speculated Dead Rising 2 or Lost Planet 2 to be their announcement, and very few are even remotely pleased with that idea. The fact that we could possibly get the sequel to 360 games that are barely a passing thought in Xbox fans minds is an insult.
Many have stated that there are only 2 possible games that would even begin to make up for Monster Hunter 3. They have stated that nothing, short of Onimusha 5 or RE 5 being PS3 exclusive, will make us feel better about Capcom's pathetic PS3 offerings. RE 5 isn't going to happen. Onimusha 5 would be an awesome announcement.
But at this point, after Capcom took DMC4 (exclusivity mind you) and MH3 away from us, this had better be something BIG. If it's another dumb-ass Megaman game, or another frickin' Street Fighter game, then a lot of people are not going to give a rats ass about Capcom anymore. They've screwed us over too many times for too long, and I dare say that their greed matches Microsoft's.
Stay tuned for Part 2 which I will put up tomorrow after their no doubt disappointing announcement of an eventual multi-platform version of Street Fighter 3 Third Strike HD Edition or some other piece of shite.
Until tomorrow, this is the DragonKnight asking, "Can someone show me the nearest pipe out of here?"

Welcome Back DK
I have to say, I guess we don't agree on Capcom's announcment. Do we know what it is yet? Judging by the digg feed, its Street Fighter 4!!! About freakin time, but I'm certain it will be disappointing. Nothing can achieve the perfect fighting balance that is SF2 or SFA (to a lesser degree).
I for one am really excited about the idea of a multiplatform HD release of Street Fighter (with online). Lord knows I'm pumped enough quarters in to SF2 over the years, Capcom OWES me!
